The collection for the month of January is for our HarvestCall Disaster Relief fund. This Church collection is to provide readily available funds in anticipation of a disaster occurring later in the calendar year. Examples include tornadoes, earthquakes, floods, or other national or local disasters similar to what happened to Washington or where our HarvestCall work teams have been.
Many thanks to all of the volunteers who have helped with the fellowship hall interior demolition work this week. Great progress is being made and the work will continue through the rest of the week. There will continue to be opportunity for volunteers to help hang drywall for the next two weeks. We plan to do this work in the evenings and Saturdays in addition to volunteer crews during the day. Please sign-up at the messenger center in the back hall so that we can plan accordingly. See Bro. Mark Rocke with any questions.
There are renderings and samples of the planned fellowship hall finishes on display in the south entryway of the church. Please take the opportunity in the next two weeks to review them and provide feedback to the building or interior committees. We plan to ask for a vote of support for these finishes on Sunday, January 24th.
The 50 year celebration at the Eureka nursing home was canceled Sunday due to the extreme cold. A new date will be communicated in the near future.
There is a convert/young member class that began yesterday during afternoon service in the downstairs conference room. All converts and members 7th grade through Bible Class are invited to attend. This will be a 10 week course on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month. Each of the ministers will be taking turns teaching. Bro Mike will be leading the 2 January classes. All participants should bring their completed worksheet on “The Testaments”. The class starts at 12 noon.

Family hymn sing for January has been moved due to the singing group coming from Indiana! It will be SATURDAY, January 23 at the church. We plan to have a chili supper at 5 PM followed by the usual singing at 6:30. A sign-up sheet for food will be available in the coming week. Although it will be held at church, normal family hymn sing attire is acceptable. Please contact Bro. Fred or Sis. Megan Rokey with any questions.
Our small group Bible studies on the sermon on the mount are beginning soon. There is a small group of ladies meeting on Wednsday mornings that could use a few more. If there are any other women who would be interested in this please see Sis. Trish Gerber.
We will be having our monthly Bible Study this Wednesday evening. Bro. Mike will be teaching and the topic will be: "Lion of the tribe of Judah: here's my basket" everyone is welcome to attend.
The rotating potluck lists are in the back hall at the message center and are ready to be picked up. If you have any questions, please see Sis. Jill Rocke.
The Goodfield Church calendar of events is finished and there are copies available at the information center. This calendar along with our monthly calendar is also available on the church website. Thanks to Bro. Steve Rocke for making these calendars available.
Some needs for Heiterland:
A couple of used men's wallets and a used baby bassinet. Someone who would be interested in mending or altering for Heiterland residents. Also someone to make picture books of babies/farms/families to be laminated or put in plastic sleeves in a 3 ring binder. Any of those will work as long as they can be wiped off. They can be cut from magazines/ photographs/ or drawings as long as they are one theme per book. The director of Heiterland is wanting to start a Birthday club. Sunday School classes or individuals could make homemade birthday cards for the residents. They could come in any time to be on hand when someone has a birthday. The only requirement would be that they are signed: Your Birthday Club Friends from the Apostolic Christian Church of Goodfield. If anyone is interested in helping with anything on the list please contact Wendy Faulk at 309-467-2311 ext.149 or Carrie Franklin ext.131.
