2017 June 25 Announcements

The Young Group guys’ Bible study will be at Bro. Mike and Sis. Amber Grimm’s at 7pm this Tuesday, June 27th.  Be prepared to discuss Chapter 11 of the “Prayer” Bible study.

For anyone interested in doing the James Bible Study this late Summer/Fall please sign-up at the Information Center. If you have any questions see Bro. Nate or Sis. Brittany Zeltwanger or Bro. Kris or Sis. Heather Swords.

We have revised the family hymn sing organizational committee a little and will implement a few minor changes to family hymn sings in the coming year. We will no longer have set weeks or months in which the hymn sing will take place but instead we will plan them on random days (this will hopefully help with attendance as we avoid scheduling on the same night as other events such as ACYF, etc.) We would also like to implement some potlucks and meals in conjunction with the hymn sing.

Our next family hymn sing is planned for Sunday, July 9th at 5:00 pm at the fellowship hall.

Hamburger fry will start at 5:00 with the hymn sing to follow.

A sign-up for food is at the message center. If you have any questions please see Sis. Jennifer Stoller

Vacation Bible School is fast approaching. It will be July 31st-Aug 4th. Signup sheets for teacher and craft help will be put out next Sunday at the information center. This church ministry cannot sustain itself without willing hearts and helping hands. You are needed😊 There is no better investment, no higher calling than to share the good news of Jesus with others. This is opportunity knocking! Open the door and embrace the joy of serving our Lord. Life experience is a plus. We encourage & welcome seasoned veterans. Please be prayerful about this opportunity to serve and that the Gospel message can be clearly taught. If you have any questions please contact Bro. Josh or Sis. Carolyn Knapp.

The Gateway Woods annual auction is August 5th this year and we are in need of donations. Please, get them to Bro. Craig or Sis. Marla Wiegand as soon as possible.

The 2017 general conference will be held in Roanoke on Friday, August 11.  Roanoke church has lots of seating, and is close by.  This year is a great opportunity for anyone interested to be richly blessed with much spiritual learning and beautiful singing. If you are interested in attending, please RSVP to Bro. Mike Grimm by June 30 at Mikeg@lighthousegm.com, or text 696-6611.

Notes from Wendy Falk at the AC Home:

We are pleased to let you know that the Bake Sale at Market Day brought in $917.00. We want to THANK THE CHURCHES FOR HELPING GET THE WORD OUT AND ESPECIALLY THE GREAT LADY BAKERS AND THEIR SCRUMPIOUS GOODIES. It is not easy to bake in this kind of weather. It heats your houses up and takes a lot of your precious time. We have such love and gratefulness for each one of you! In past years the most we have made was around $600. So again, God Bless you for your Huge Contribution to our Residents and the Activity Department of this Home. They plan on using proceeds to continue providing wonderful programs for the residents.

I also would like to ask if anyone is interested in helping with Coffee Hour we have openings for the 2nd, 4th and 5th Friday’s of each month. You could pair up with a friend, family member or get to know another volunteer and make a new friend while serving our residents.

I was approached by staff to see if anyone would be interested in sitting and visiting a married couple who like to walk the building and go outside to sit in our courtyards. You would be helping them safely in and out of the building and making sure they are not outside in the hot temperatures and direct sun to long.

Or we have a couple of ladies looking for someone to read to them.

Also, I was asked to find bakers for a new program on Thursday’s in July. A junior volunteer would like to lead 3p.m. Tea Parties for our Ladies. It would be nice to have tea party treats to go along with Sophia’s Tea Party Programs. Sugar Cookies, Banana or Zucchini Bread etc….

If our churches could help pass the word for these new volunteer needs there might be someone just wanting to help out. If someone may be interested they can call me at the following phone # or email. I would be happy to answer any questions.

We rejoice with Brooke Wiegand (Bro. Brad & Sis. Karen) and Joan Zimmerman (Bro. Mike and Sis. Gretchen) as they have both turned their lives to the Lord in repentance. May they feel His nearness and grace.

Luke 15:7 7  I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth,

We rejoice with Bro. Loren and Sis. Darcy Schock as they were blessed with a baby girl named Renly Mae on June 20th.
