Our collection for the month of August is for the Gateway Woods Children’s Home.
We are also having a special monetary collection for the EnGedi House in Jamaica where Sis. Erin Davis lives.
Sunday school has been pushed back one week and will begin on August 23rd. There will be an important Sunday school teachers meeting this Thursday at 7 p.m. in the west assembly. More details will follow.
We plan to have communion on Wednesday evening, September 9th. We will utilize the church and Fellowship Hall so we have plenty of room for all members that desire to come. We will be serving individual cups and bread to each person. The Gathering Room will be available to those requiring extra safety measures. Bro. John Lehman from Bern, Kansas plans to be with us to serve. The communion exhortation will be given on Sunday, August 30th. Looking forward to this time where we can enjoy the Lord’s supper together.
We would like to introduce you to an “Each One-Reach One” opportunity to spread the Gospel message. Anyone who fellowships with our Goodfield church is encouraged to request a free Bible for an individual in need. If you are aware of someone who is unable to acquire a Bible, please fill out a
Bible Distribution request form
located under the RESOURCES tab of our church website. We have a selection of children's Bibles and Bibles for adults available in the Spanish or English language. If you have any questions please contact Bro. Robert or Sis. Melissa Rokey.
A video replay of the 2020 Virtual Brotherhood Conference is available. You can register to access by going to: http://www.apostolicchristian.org/brotherhood-conference
There are several coats and jackets (adult and child sizes) hanging in the women’s coat room that have been left at the church over the past year. Please check them out. Whatever is left on August 29, will be taken to HarvestCall.
Sis. Karen Wiegand would like to thank the entire church for all the love and support you have shown to her and her family these last several months. She feels the prayers and love throughout the day and feels so blessed to know they have a church family to lean on during this difficult time. Thank you all for maybe a card, food, flowers or just a text telling her you are thinking of her. Thank you!
The angels are rejoicing in that Sophia Meister and Kassidy Post have surrendered their hearts to the Lord in repentance. Sophia is the daughter of Bro. Dan and Sis. Susan Meister. Kassidy is the daughter of Bro. Greg and Sis. Missy Post. We are so thankful for surrendered hearts and the gift of salvation.
Vision Team Church Communication
The Goodfield Vision Steering Team met Tuesday evening July 28. We reviewed the Church Survey results, and attempted to plan a reasonable path forward. As a reminder, the Church Vision process began in late 2019 and you had the opportunity to fill out a survey in February 2020 so the surveys were competed looking through a pre-COVID lens.
We received a very good survey response rate, and really do appreciate the time and effort you spent in completing it. The additional comments in the surveys were helpful in bringing more clarity to our strengths and areas of concern in our church.
The steering team recognizes that with the current COVID uncertainty it is nearly impossible to focus on a long term church vision. We strongly desire to bring the survey results collectively to the church, but feel like this is not the proper time. However, if you do not feel you can wait for the future survey results, please see Bro. Jeff Grimm. He would be willing to direct you to a survey committee member who can walk you through the survey results individually.
We realize there are some who are still unclear as to what we hope to accomplish through this Church Vision process. With that thought in mind, here are our goals and aspirations for this effort:
Goals and Aspirations of the Vision Effort:
• How do we help our Church family feel loved?
• How do we give our Church family a voice?
• How do we help our Church family feel equipped and enabled?
• How do we align our Church family more closely to its Scriptural calling?
The Vision Team understands many are concerned and even fearful of potential changes this process could lead to. To be clear, the Vision Team is NOT looking to drive change, but to listen to our membership, and seek to better align our local church with the National Church’s 4 pillar Mission. This effort likely will bring SOME changes, but they will come only from careful consideration with our local church’s input.
Our pre-COVID plan was to share the survey results collectively, and then give everyone an opportunity to participate in smaller focus groups so we could listen to you share your thoughts in person. This is still our intention, but attempting to put a timeline on the next steps is not possible right now. We appreciate your patience and understanding. The Vision Team will continue to meet periodically and is committed to sharing with the congregation any progress that is made.
