The stewardship committee talked with the residents, and they said they desired a mixture of singing, and conversing or playing games with our church family. We’ve decided to have a 15-to-20-minute time of singing around the piano together. And then the rest of the time would be for conversing or playing games together. We will have tables with games set up. We plan to have these evenings 4 times per year on a Thursday evening. We look forward to spending time with our loved ones at the Eureka AC Home. Rochester Guesthouse Caretaker Need This announcement pertains to the Guesthouse that was established in 2012 for use by those who are receiving medical care in Rochester, Minnesota. The operation of the guesthouse depends on a resident caretaker of the home who doubles as the host to guests staying about 1/3 of the evenings. Over the years, many have helped fill this role on a temporary or longer-term basis. We sincerely thank Brother Jim and Sister Marcy Knobloch for filling this need the past year amid renovating the home to add a lift to the lower level. As of November 1st, 2025, there is an opportunity for others to serve in the Guesthouse caretaker capacity. The Board of Directors of the Guesthouse is requesting anyone with a heart for and an interest in this work to make it known. The Board desires for someone to take up residence in the Guesthouse and operate it as the caretaker and host, ideally for an extended period. Anyone who feels led to pursue this opportunity should make it known to their local Elder or lead minister. Technology in Our Lives: Opportunities and Cautions Presented by Brother Jon Moser (Member of the Emerging Technology Committee) at 7pm at the Goodfield Fellowship Hall on Saturday, September 13, 2025. This presentation is designed for families of all ages to explore the role of technology in our daily lives. We will highlight the positive ways technology can enhance connection, learning, and faith, while addressing areas where caution is needed. Topics include: • Social Media: Building community and sharing positivity while navigating potential pitfalls like comparison and misinformation. • Privacy: Protecting personal information in an increasingly connected world. • Artificial Intelligence (AI): Understanding how AI tools can support education and creativity, and where discernment is required. • Other key topics shaping our digital lives. Nathan Wiegand will be having a topical Bible study on “The Transfiguration of Jesus” in the church at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome. The first Sunday of Sunday School is next Sunday, August 17. Singing will begin at 9:45 a.m. Young Adult Sunday School will also resume next Sunday for the coming school year. We invite all singles and couples age 25 and under who are out of high school to join us in the Family Gathering Room each Sunday during morning services. We will begin the year with a study of John’s epistles. If you have any questions please see Brothers Jedd Rocke or Darrell Stoller. Family Hymn Sing will be next Sunday, August 17 at 6:00 at the Fellowship Hall. A quartet from Gridley will be singing and then we will be having Uncle Bob’s ice cream. Sara Glueck with any questions. NATIONAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Our church General Conference is August 9th in Tremont. Please register by this Saturday, August 2nd if you plan to attend. There are several changes from the previous conferences that really enhance the experience. It’s on a Saturday this year. The format is now a series of talks, smaller breakout talks, and discussion groups. The overall theme is an inspirational look at Jesus building His church using Matthew 16:18 “...upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” It would be great to see a large group from Goodfield attend this year since it’s right down the road. YOUNG GROUP ANNOUNCEMENT: As the ICC and Bradley classes are starting soon, the ICC/BU Young Group will begin meeting again, and we're excited to get this year's activities started off with the upcoming Welcome Night! A quick overview of ICC/Bradley YG: We are a group of college-aged individuals—students, recent grads, and young professionals—united by a desire to know God more deeply, support each other through life’s challenges, and create authentic, lasting connections. We do not restrict to just ICC and Bradley students - any college-aged individual is free and encouraged to be a part! We meet weekly for Bible Studies, worship nights, service nights, and game nights.
