PRAYER REQUEST UPDATE:
An update from sister Paula Hartman: Mike is in Urbana Hospital. He had a tube put in his left lung due to a lot of infection. They are doing 2 treatments a day to help break the infection up so it can drain. If the infection isn't gone in a couple days, they will do surgery to help clear his lung. Thank you for all the prayers we can really feel them!
MINISTER SEARCH UPDATE:
From Bro. Jeff Wiegand:
A sincere thanks to everyone for your prayers, your comments and thoughtfulness during the past few weeks as we’ve sought direction in adding a minister(s) to our pulpit. I understand and appreciate the difficulty. Most churches would be envious of the number of qualified brothers we have in our church. This blessing does present a significant challenge. Fifty-three brothers received at least one vote and 10 brothers received the majority of the votes and I personally would love to have all of them serving on our pulpit. We are truly blessed with talented and engaged brothers in our congregation. The comments were thoughtful, peaceful and many of them were filled with love. This past Tuesday evening I met with brothers Jeff Grimm, Harvey Kaeb and Ron Messner to discuss our ballot. We all felt it would be healthy for our church to vote again after a period of time, maybe six to eight months. This will allow the spirit to continue to move in our congregation and more clarity to come for our next vote. Just to be clear, I do not view this as a failed vote. As we are preparing together, this was one step in our preparation for the next minister(s) to come to our pulpit. I firmly believe over the next six to eight months we are going to continue to see the spirit work among our church bringing clarity to your hearts towards a brother or brothers. I firmly believe there are some brothers in this church that are going to feel the spirit working in their life and it’s going to really sanctify them over the next few months and they will feel the call more strongly. This past few weeks was something our church needed to go through as the spirit continues to work and as we continue to grow in more clarity. I will certainly look forward to see what the next few months brings as the church continues to pray and as the Holy Spirit continues to work on the church and on specific brothers in our church. In the meantime, we pray for patience for our pulpit ministry. We are the 5th or 6th largest Apostolic Christian church and there are currently 26 congregations in the Apostolic Christian church with more ministers than us. Between visits to other churches, adult Bible studies, Sunday School visits and other travel, there will be times when we will only have one or two ministers on our pulpit. Our ministers are also taking a larger role in convert counseling. We are blessed to have 22 souls repenting at this time. Between those meetings, the Bible studies and other duties our minister team has full plates. This is a great time for brothers and sisters in our church that have capacity to pitch in and help. This may mean more committed involvement in the various programs that are operated by our stewardship team or just making an extra effort in reaching out to our converts, the lonely, hurting or the less connected in our church family. We are very blessed to have a thriving, diverse and intergenerational congregation and our desire is that all of us grow to look more like Jesus everyday and this effort requires participation from all. This is something we really do have to do together. Just want to thank all of you for your prayerfulness and your willingness to engage in the ministry of the gospel.
