Technology in Our Lives: Opportunities and Cautions
Presented by Brother Jon Moser (Member of the Emerging Technology Committee) at 7pm at the Goodfield Fellowship Hall on Saturday, September 13, 2025.
This presentation is designed for families of all ages to explore the role of technology in our daily lives. We will highlight the positive ways technology can enhance connection, learning, and faith, while addressing areas where caution is needed. Topics include:
  •
Social Media: Building community and sharing positivity while navigating potential pitfalls like comparison and misinformation.
  •
Privacy: Protecting personal information in an increasingly connected world.
  •
Artificial Intelligence (AI): Understanding how AI tools can support education and creativity, and where discernment is required.
  •  Other key topics shaping our digital lives.
Join us to learn practical tips for using technology wisely, fostering balance, and aligning its use with our values as a church family.

Our church Invite a Friend is scheduled for Sunday, September 21. Everyone is welcome, even if you don’t invite any guests! There will be a 4:30 supper at the fellowship hall followed by a singing. We encourage all who can, to invite and come, as this is a great opportunity to connect with our church. Please RSVP on the sheet at the message center by September 14. Please contact Bro. Dan & Sis. Susan Meister; Bro. Toby & Sis. Julia Plattner or Sis. Sara Glueck with any questions.

LOCAL ANNOUNCEMENTS: Rotating potluck lists are ready to be picked up at the message center. Thank you to everyone willing to be a part! It has been brought to our attention that several of the vendors we use for serving lunch, such as Beecham’s, Casey’s, Schnuck’s and ALDI are now requiring a 2 week notice for orders. Because of this we have compiled a new GREEN binder that has vendor information and past lunch history for you to pick up 2 weeks before you serve so you can place your orders in a timely fashion. You will then take the green binder back and exchange for the purple binder the Sunday before you serve. The purple binder has key and the rest of the information you will need to serve. Sis. Roxy will note in the weekly announcement email who serves in two weeks so you are alerted and can get started with the planning. Please remember if you switch serving dates with someone else to let Sis. Christy Wiegand know so she can update the church calendar online which Roxy will use for the reminders. If you have any questions, please see Sis. Emily Sauder or Sis. Judy Knapp. Beginning Monday, January 12, Bro. Alan & Sis. Our study for 2026 Winter Group Study is “Gentle and Lowly: The Heart of Christ for Sinners and Sufferers”. This small group study is open to all and has been such a blessing to build spiritually deep relationships within our church body. Please sign-up for the Winter Bible study here . It has been a devastating and surreal experience, and yet in the middle of it, we have been overwhelmed by the love of this church. The calls, texts, prayers, and generous gifts have met us in a moment when we didn’t even know what to ask for. We are truly humbled by the kindness you’ve shown. We want you to know how deeply grateful we are. Your support has reminded us that even when everything familiar is lost, God’s faithfulness remains steady—and He often shows it through His people. You have been that for us. As we move forward and begin navigating the next steps, we would be grateful for your continued prayers. There is a long road ahead, and we are leaning on the Lord for wisdom, strength, and peace. Knowing we are surrounded by a church family that loves us means more than we can express. We currently assemble Midwest Health Kits twice a year during Family Hymn Sings. Please see Sis. Carrie Blunier if you are interested or have questions. We want to thank all of you who were able to participate in our small group discussions this past Wednesday and on October 15th. We are compiling all of the notes and sorting them to identify common themes or thoughts. These summaries will be handed off to a building exploration committee and will be used to guide their discussions around the scope, feasibility, and desires of the church family. We do want to reiterate some points to keep us all on the same page. 1. This discussion began with the trustees identifying several building upgrades that need to be done in the near future. As good stewards, we do not want to spend any money on our facility without exploring all options. 2. We want the church’s input on any large decisions. We felt that these discussions gave us an opportunity to really hear the church in a way that was healthier than an anonymous survey. 3. We also recognize that some decisions will be made that will disappoint some. We will never all agree on the scope of the project, colors or styles of carpet, etc. If we decide to do nothing with our facility, that will disappoint some. We just ask for grace and patience as individuals and committees work through decisions. 4. The ministry team was involved in helping lead the small group discussions but that will largely end our involvement in this process. Our role is the preaching of God’s Word, nurturing of souls, and guiding the spiritual growth of the congregation. We should not let those efforts be negatively impacted by a building project. We will help in identifying the initial exploration committee and then we will be fairly hands off at that point other than helping with some communication. 5. We recognize that there was some angst around the discussion of church planting. It is an uncomfortable topic. For clarity, we are not exploring a church plant at this time. Our Apostolic Christian Church, and many other churches, has recognized that building bigger and bigger churches is not following the pattern of the early church. There are challenges when a church gets too big, just as there are challenges when a church is too small. It is healthiest when the conversations around a healthy church plant begin 5 to 10 years before it becomes necessary. It may never become necessary in Goodfield. However, the only way it will never become a need, is if we become stagnant or shrink. We don’t want that. NATIONAL ANNOUNCEMENTS: HarvestCall’s next large-scale Rebuilding Ministry project will be in Acadia Parish, Louisiana. They are in need of our help to repair and rebuild their homes and lives. HarvestCall will be helping underserved people who suffered loss and are unable to recover on their own.
