Joan Steffen to share how the Lord has worked in their lives. There will be opportunity for anyone in the congregation to ask questions as well. Everyone is welcome!
Our Family Hymn Sing and Appreciation Dinner for Bro. Jeff and Sis. Ruth Grimm is next Sunday, October 15th at 5:00 pm at the Fellowship Hall. You can sign up here to RSVP and to help bring food. We have added a signup sheet in the back hall if you don’t feel comfortable in signing up online. If you have further questions, you can contact sisters Larisa Wettstein or Jenise Wiegand.
LOCAL ANNOUNCEMENTS:
The Eureka Home Auxiliary Board would like to thank everyone who helped with Saturday's benefit. This event relies on the help and prayers of our church families. We are grateful for everyone who donated, worked, baked and prayed for the event. God blessed us with beautiful weather and it was a wonderful evening. Thank you!
Bro. Brian Rieke (Area Steward for Church Care) and Bro. Denny Blunier presented an opportunity to participate in an effort to support and encourage those in our congregation. Serving others is specifically mentioned and encouraged in many places in the Bible (Philippians, Galatians, John, James) and is the “4th Pillar” of our church. Bro. Denny and Sis. Eddis identified roughly 40 people that may benefit from more interactions with people from the church. A starting goal may be for a “server” to interact with a person each month. That would mean we would like at least 40 of our congregation to participate in this initial “Server” effort. As explained, these interactions could range from a phone call, a letter, to a face-to-face visit, for a lunch, a drive, grocery shopping, a walk, reading…etc. We expect the team to communicate electronically, possibly with something like “sign-up genius” allowing “servers” to select those they would like to interact with. As with any program, we will make a start, find what works and what doesn’t, make changes, and try to go forward. Please give participation in this new program some serious consideration…and contact Bro. Denny or Sis. Eddis Blunier by any means if you are willing and able to participate. It would be great to have 40 positive responses by next Sunday.

The next Silver Lining reader-submitted article is set for January 2024. As we seek to let Biblical lives characterize us, the topic is: What practical lessons have you learned from people in the Bible, such as David, Daniel, Peter, Esther, Deborah, or others (Hebrews 11:13-16)? Please submit your contribution (length = 600 words or less) on this topic to features@acsilverlining.org by November 15, 2023. You may email that same address for writing support or clarification. Chime in about how Bible stories bless children … of all ages, including you!
Please use this new link to sign up to help paint the mural in the Sunday School hallway. Anyone who can color inside the lines is welcome to sign up to help. Click here to view an updated slideshow of the progress on the Sunday school creation mural. We are asking for high school ages and older to help with the painting of the creation mural down in the church basement. We will have 3 or 4 people at a time and add more time slots as we progress so check back often. Contact Sis. Dawn Maloney with any questions.

Registration for the 2023 Apologetics Conference on Saturday, November 11 in Indianapolis is now open to all interested attendees. Registration is required and will close on November 1. The purpose of the conference is to raise awareness of what apologetics is, why it matters, and provide entryways into major apologetic questions. This year's theme is: Does God Matter?
While "Does God exist?" may be one of mankind’s most fundamental questions, our increasingly secular society seems to be asking a different question: "Does it even matter?" Join us at the 2023 Apologetics Conference as we discuss how to respond to atheism and apathy.
