2019 June 23 Announcements

Roxy Blunier • June 24, 2019

Our collection for the month of June is for our local area relief projects. Thanks to all of you for the efforts that have been put forth in this area. All of the different projects areas that we are involved in are listed in our Church directory or on the website. If you have any questions or would like to be more involved, please see Sis. Dawn Maloney.

The Sunday school picnic is Sunday, June 30 starting at 4:30 pm at the Fellowship Hall. Fried chicken, drinks, and tableware will be provided. Please bring a dish to share. Everyone is invited.

Thank you to all who signed up to help with Vacation Bible School this year. There will be a short meeting in the lunchroom immediately following afternoon church today for all who signed up to teach or help with crafts.

The young group girls' Bible study will be held this coming Tuesday evening at the Gathering Room starting at 7:00 pm.  The topic of discipleship will be discussed and tied in to the experience of the Tennessee Mission Trip, as well as other examples of faithful mentors who have come along side each of us.  Bring your Bibles.

The young group guys' Bible study will be at the same time at Bro. Jeff & Sis. Ruth’s house.  Bro. Nathan Wiegand will be leading the study.

Roanoke Church is hosting HavestCall's Proclaim and Serve 2019 mission conference on Saturday, July 20th. This conference is not just about what HarvestCall is currently doing. It is also about learning together how we as individuals and as a church can better understand and apply the Great Commission.  Preregistration is required and it can be done at ProclaimandServe.org

The Gateway Woods benefit auction is coming up on Saturday, August 3rd. If you would be willing to donate items or money toward items please see Bro. Erik Wiegand. Items can be dropped off at their house or brought to church.

Adult Encourager program:

1.  As this is presented to the students, they will be given a list of people in the church who are 25 years and older to choose from.  If you are in this age group, please be prayerful and willing to mentor if a student chooses your name.

2.  The students will pick 5 people they would like to connect with and then they will be paired up with 1 adult after the committee prays over the names and facilitates the connections.  The goal is to spread this out through the congregation so that the adults aren’t mentoring multiple students.

3.  Each year, the students will be paired with someone different.  The goal is that each student will connect with 4 adults during their time in high school.  Studies have shown that when there are more connections between generations, there is a higher likelihood that the students will feel welcome and want to attend that church.

We are planning testimonies and baptisms for Diane Gregory on June 29th and 30th. Her testimony will start at 7pm on Saturday the 29th. It is Group 1’s turn to help and bring food.

We plan to cancel Wednesday evening services this week due to the testimony Saturday night.

Note from Sis. Lila Wirtz:

We are very thankful that Katie’s bone scan was negative.  She begins her chemo on Thursday.  Please continue to pray for Katie and their family.

We rejoice with Cade and Emrie Knapp as they have turned their life over to the Lord in repentance. Cade and Emrie are the son and daughter of Bro. Ryan and Sis. Liz Knapp. May they feel God’s nearness and grace. We are so thankful that God is still patient and calling souls to repentance and conversion.

Ramp Doors next Sunday (6/30): Nate Zeltwanger & Dave Zobrist

A new Jobs section in AC Central — now open to any employer (business or nonprofit) who wishes to recruit Apostolic Christians — has been added to the latest update of AC Central (version 4.3). For a small fee, employers can post jobs to reach all registered AC Central users. And job seekers can now filter openings by location, job type, industry, pay, etc. and set up notifications. This service was created to respond to the multitude of requests from brethren — and other employers — who wanted some way to publicize their job openings to ACs across the country. This new service will help employers reach over 12,000 registered AC Central users across the country, enabling them to find honest, hardworking employees while — in some cases — facilitating crosspollination of members from one congregation to another. Any employer can use this service. It is NOT limited to just nonprofit mission-oriented jobs. This being a brand-new service, it may take a while for word to get around and employers to start using the service, so job seekers, are encouraged to check back regularly. Instruments of Worship Weekend September 26-27, 2026 | Akron, Canaan, Rittman, Smithville, Ohio This event is for musicians that share a connection to the Apostolic Christian denomination for the purpose of worship, practice, fellowship and making musical connections. The HarvestCall Child Sponsorship Office in Morton is looking for 2 volunteers to take over certain office responsibilities for our child sponsorship program in Haiti. This would require approximately 4 hours of in office work per week, and basic computer skills. Volunteers would be responsible for managing updates on student information and notifying sponsors of all changes. This is an excellent way to be involved in the work that HarvestCall Child Sponsorship is doing with students in Haiti. Those interested should reach out to Cathy Koch (Office Manager) at (309) 267-3905 or email the Office at childsponsorship@harvestcall.org . NATIONAL ANNOUNCEMENTS: Greetings to the Upper Midwest and Illinois churches! The Rochester Christian Guest House continues to support those coming to Rochester for medical care and their families. At the end of our recent annual meeting, it seemed timely to update the churches on some changes and current needs. The three separate guestrooms w/ private baths and a shared common/kitchen area are all on the lower level. This past year, a lift was installed to provide easier access from the main floor, which has blessed many. High usage continues to come from our churches and associated friends/neighbors. Those staying include those receiving care as well as their friends and family. Please continue encouraging brethren and friends to visit the Guesthouse Webpage for more information and reservations in their time of need. Unsolicited donations from those staying or from their churches cover operating expenses. This coming year, we seek to raise around $30,000 to replace the deck and some sections of the sidewalk. Contributions can be made out to the Rochester Guesthouse and mailed directly to our treasurer, Bro. John Berglund (4110 Brunswick Ave N, Crystal, MN 55422). Guests are presently served by short-term caretakers while we pray for a long-term caretaker. To that end, we are seeking to expand our list of potential short-term caretakers who stay for a few days to a few months at a time to interact with the guests and turn over the rooms. The short-term list is contacted when guests are scheduled to be at the guesthouse. We pray that, in time, God will also provide us with a long-term caretaker who can stay for one or more years, serving guests and caring for the home. When we are blessed with a longterm caretaker, we will still need short-term caretakers to cover vacations and other needs as they arise. If there is interest in exploring either role, please reach out to our board chair, David Messner ( dbmessner@gmail.com ). We thank you for your prayers - for the board to be good stewards of entrusted funds, for God to provide caretakers to serve with the compassion of Christ, and for our guests to be encouraged and drawn closer to God during their stay. As students go through high school, it is hard to know what they want to do after graduation. Our church family has so many God given talents, resources, and so much to offer. We put together a "virtual job fair" so our church family can share about their jobs and then we will give the information to the high school students so they can get ideas and know who to reach out to with questions about jobs. The form has contact information so this another chance to build relationships as the high schoolers reach out to people with questions about jobs. The more people that fill out the form, the more jobs the students can learn about so we would appreciate anyone who would fill out the information. LOCAL ANNOUNCEMENTS: As students go through high school, it is hard to know what they want to do after graduation. It may look long, but you do not need to fill out all the questions. If you feel questions don't apply, or you answered them elsewhere, these are just a guideline. You don't have to answer them all. If you are retired, you can pick a job you had during your career to fill the form out about. If you have any questions, please reach out to Bro. Nate or Sis. Emily Sauder. We appreciate your time and thank you for completing the form by 04/25/2026. Click-here to complete the "Virtual Job Fair" form . Thank you! A special thank you to all who came to help clean our fellowship hall and church. Your time was greatly appreciated! There is a table with lost and found items in the women's coat room.
